About Barbara

Barbara Lema is a Rhode-Island based singer and mountain dulcimer player. Barbara’s voice has been described as “beautiful", "lovely" and "like an angel.” Her accompaniment on the dulcimer has been described as “wonderful with a comfortable stage presence,” and “great energy.” She performs solo and with her husband Wyatt Lema, an accomplished musician and songwriter. Together they are 'Wyatt and Barbara.'
Barbara was born in the rhythm and blues city of St. Louis, so naturally she has been singing as long as she can remember. Barbara’s first solo performance was in high school, where she played guitar and sang the songs of Peter Paul and Mary and The Mamas and Papas. Her next solo performance was some time later, in 2012, with her dulcimer at the Mediator Stage in Providence, Rhode Island.
Although Barbara and Wyatt started their love story in 1982, the songwriting duo wouldn’t begin until 2013. Since then they have performed on stages at festivals, benefits, tributes, cafes, pubs, arts centers and community events. Barbara also shares her love of the mountain dulcimer through workshops and teaching. Barbara’s vocals and musicianship are featured on other musicians’ albums as well.
